Support My Research

Independent research takes time and resources. Contributions help keep it going.

Most of what I produce ends up published at established outlets - but a significant portion of the work behind those pieces happens outside the editorial cycle. Primary-source research, serial number documentation, archive pulls, item acquisitions for hands-on examination - none of that has a direct publication powering it.

The Charter Arms Explorer II project is one example. So is the broader Curious Relics archive, which now spans over 100 installments backed by years of accumulated reference material. These projects exist because I find them worth doing, not because they're commercially optimal.

If you've found my work useful - whether it helped you identify a firearm, understand a mechanism, or just gave you something worth reading - a contribution via Ko-fi is a direct way to say so. No account required, no subscription, no public record of who contributed. It goes toward books, travel, and the acquisitions that make the research possible.

Contributions are not tax-deductible. This is not a nonprofit. It's just a writer trying to do research the right way.
